Authors Ask Readers for Five-Star Amazon Book Reviews

Clint Cox isn’t afraid to be bold. And it has won him 54 five-star reviews (and counting) on Amazon.com.The first-time author of Christmas Notes, a story about how an orphan turns around a man’s bad spirit during the holidays, has figured out that in order to get readers to write five-star reviews about his book on Amazon, all he had to do was ask.

“After you have sold yourself and your book to someone, the two of you should feel somewhat like friends,” Cox said. “It is at this point that you should ask every person that buys a book from you to give you a five-star review on Amazon.”

Not that it’s easy. First he had to get up close and personal with readers, something that takes a lot of planning and preparation. But he has found it is essential in book marketing. Christmas Notes was published before the holidays in 2011, and so Cox’s plan was to get in front of as many people as possible during the season. “I booked myself at some of the top Christmas shows in the western United States to be able to get my name and book exposed to as many people as possible,” he said. “All of my events had 25,000 or more attendees. One event had 50,000. I personally sold about 4,000 books in three months.”

Writing and Marketing A Youth Book

It wasn’t hard becoming a story-teller during the 50s due to the fact that Perth’s author Joëlle Hübner-McLean’s household did not have a television until the late 1960s. Because Hübner-McLean was inspired by the natural order and beauty of things, which she admired often while walking in the small woods near her house in Whitby, Ontario, she says that her sister would have to put up with the various stories that she told during every bedtime when they were growing up in the country. Hübner-McLean would also make up stories about anything and everything just to keep her imagination alive and magical. Her novel, Corvus and Me illustrates the courage and mystical events that are important in both life and in the realm of the fantastic. The book, recently published in 2012, is the first in a series that Hübner-McLean is continuing to write.

Wikipedia v. Encyclopedia Britannica?

At American Book Publishing we believe it’s best to offer “Paper and Page” printed books, along with our various e-editions for iPad, Kindle, Nook and other e-book devices. We see the advantages to readers when our industry supports each type of book edition. It saddens us to see that some other book publishers must make a choice, or in some cases go out of business. We know that “Newer” does not always mean something is improved. But in this case what is your opinion?

Growing Your Book Sales Year After Year

Today authors are succeeding long after the initial hype of their book release. Many authors continue to build a market for their titles long after their book’s first year on the market. For this holiday we wanted to honor President Abraham Lincoln, and so we asked the author of Abraham Lincoln: God’s Humble Instrument, Ron L Anderson how he continued to increase sales in his title year after year.

Abraham Lincoln: Gods Humble Instrument

“My book’s first release was in 2009, the bicentennial of Lincoln’s birth. I used this commemoration to quite easily book speaking engagements for service clubs, professional organizations, conferences, and Education Weeks at major universities. At each venue I have been able to sell books and book additional speaking engagements. This has also generated newspaper articles (one a front page) and radio programs.

We are in our third printing and I have some of my best speaking venues scheduled in the coming months. In university guest special programs lectures, I am able to address more than 2,000 attendees each year and with my book highlighted in their bookstores, many have been sold. I’ve been invited back for the fourth straight year.
I created the Lincoln Leadership Society where Lincoln enthusiasts receive a quarterly “Lincoln Letter”. We will eclipse 1,000 members later this year. This too has been an abundant source of book sales.”

American Book Publishing is very proud of this title and author and have enjoyed many years of sales success and expect sales to continue to grow in it. This proves it’s the author’s book promotions and not always about the topic or even a lack of competition in new titles. Today there are over 15,000 titles about our great Abraham Lincoln! Ron’s book is one that continues to sell well year after year, due to his book promotion events and newsletter building.
